CNN-IBN Debate on Telangana

It is so sad that national channel like CNN-IBN conducts a debate on Telangana with focus on Brand Hyderabad and the anchor Sagarika tried to blame the politicians fromTelagana for not trying to keep the temperatures down in the region. I wonder, how she can ignore the fact that the people of the region fighting for their demand peacefully for more than 10 years and central government ruthless silence after the submission of Srikrishna committee report. Instead, she preferred to refer false reports like agitators attacking Emaar. First, the question she raised was completely from capitalist’s point of view. Second, she is arrogant enough to close her eyes to facts such as people from all walks of life on streets for the last two weeks. No, it is not journalism for people. Being indifferent to the sacrifices by the people and concerned about Brand Hyderabad is ridiculous. Brand Hyderabad, as Sanjay Baru said, will survive for ever. Because, it was brand even before independence. Now, give thought to aspirations of the people, identify with their sentiments. It is national media’s responsibility to understand the gravity of the issue and react accordingly. Telangana is a serious issue not a fancy one like fight against corruption to grab TRPs nationwide. National media has to take the cognizance of the issue to the people across the country to keep the federal spirit of the largest democracy alive.

You are right Sree! Nobody in this world has a right to ridicule or make a mockery of the aspirations of the Telangana People even in the name of media. Media should have facts on hand before participating and provoking people with this kind of futile discussions. Hope you have observed posters against ‘THE HINDU’ near TDP Office, KBR Park and Panjagutta by the Journalists’ Association of Telangana. Keep going and help people in right thinking for their rights.
